I like to start each semester with a collaborative slideshow I build together with students. I create the initial slideshow which has student NAMES on blank slides already. (I'm fancy and use Alice Keeler's "Roster to Slides" Google Script to make these.)
Initially I let students only have VIEW ONLY access to the slideshow. We discuss:
Why it's important to ONLY edit their slide
How Google tracks the "version history" of slides, documents, sheets, etc. so anyone is able to "go back" and see exactly who made an edit on a given file
How we want to respect each other's work in our class, and we are starting with a collaboratively edited slideshow to PRACTICE this.
THEN I open the slideshow so "anyone with the link can edit" it.

This is the Google Slideshow I use as a "template" for this lesson. I copy / paste slides with student names using Alice Keeler's script.
