Description: In this inspiring camp, young creators explore how digital media can spark social change. Using Canva, Adobe Express, and Google Sites, campers design logos, posters, and short videos to support causes or student-led “mini-businesses.” They’ll learn design and communication skills while exploring the ideas of social entrepreneurship and creative impact. Led by Dr. Wes Fryer, IDEAS Department.

Tools: Images with Canva and Google Sites
Today we explore how images tell powerful stories. We'll learn basic design skills like color, font, and layout, then use Canva to build an image collage about an endangered animal we care about. From there, we'll create our first InfoPic: a striking image paired with a short quote and attribution. We'll also get a quick preview of Google Sites, where all our work will live by the end of camp.

Today we build our advocate website. We'll learn how to structure a page, add text and images, and publish a live site anyone can visit. Using Malala Yousafzai's ActNow message as our spark, we'll add a page for today's cause, write a short message to our audience, and embed the InfoPic we made yesterday

Today we tell our story through video. Using Greta Thunberg's 2019 speech to world leaders as inspiration, we'll learn how to create a short 30 to 60 second video or animated message about one environmental action people can take. When it's finished, we'll embed it on our Google Site.

Today is your day to choose. Pick the cause that matters most to you: ocean plastics, climate action, animal welfare, or stop killer robots. Choose your tool, create one final media piece, and add it to your site. At the end of camp, each creator shares her Google Site in our Changemaker Showcase, walking us through her work and the causes she championed this week.
